And I must say I'm pretty impressed. Amazing conversion on playback. I haven't recorded with it yet but I'm pretty stoked. The punch and definition I have through my KRKs now is pretty awesome.

I know there are a few threads on this but I'm happy with the mod. I wasn't quite ready to upgrade to a new interface as I'm still using PT8 and the 002 works quite well with my setup. If anyone has questions, ask away!

I also was quite concerned about thunderbolt overtaking firewire for audio before making this purchase. It looks like according to Apple and Intel, no one is developing a true thunderbolt interface.

Which level mod did you get? I have basically the same set up right now and I feel I definitely need an upgrade. But investing in the 002r which is crazy old is something i'm not sure I want to do.

I got the tweakhead mod. The guys at BLA are very friendly and told me that you could upgrade from the tweakhead to the signature for roughly the difference in the price. The only thing is, you have send it off and wait again.

I figured this is a good investment since it would be hard to sell off my 002R. Even in the future if I went with a more professional setup, this would be a nice travel interface.
