Graveland

it's only the second one. i might pick it up, though i never picked up the other one.

at least they pay tribute to a good band

March 24th is apparently the release date for the new Graveland now. Was supposed to be Late Feb/Early March, and before that... Well, you all know that, heh.

Watch it turn into April 25th next...

March 25th, which means it wont be available in the US until April...meh

also

We're finishing our work on the continuation of the split CD / LP 'Eastern Hammer'. It'll consist of some unpublished so far (and recorded especially for this split) pieces of four the greatest bands from eastern Europe, that is: GRAVELAND, NOKTURNAL MORTUM, NORTH and TEMNOZOR. More info will be available soon!

There are many bands out there that are more worthy of a tribute than GRAVELAND. Plus, I don't consider a release with what tend to be a bunch of slaughtered versions of classic songs to be a "tribute."

I can't fucking wait for that split. Hope its not too far off. I remember they said it would be out March at one point, but I don't see that happening.

Anyone get a copy Will Stronger Than Death yet? I ordered it from NCR when it went into their ordering system, only to get an email this morning saying that my order will be shipped next week sometime.

Fire Chariot of Destruction is a GREAT album. When you listen to a song like "River of Tears", you realize Darken could probably write a movie soundtrack if he wanted.

His NS tag will probably always limit his music getting any worthy attention. Be that as it may, I have a question: if I remember correctly, Dawn of Iron Blades is similar to Fire Chariot is it not? So how far back can one go before Graveland starts to become less epic/Hamemrheart-like? I have Immortal Pride so I assume it's somewhere post that era?

Also, is it expected that Will Stronger than Death will continue in the same vein as Fire Chariot?

Immortal Pride is the first really epic album. I haven't really heard anything from the new album, but I think it's supposed to be generally in the same vein, if only a bit heavier.

this might be a little gay, but whenever i hear that song I get this image in my head of a lone dragonboat with a burning funeral pyre on it. :headbang:

Stylistically or in terms of quality? I guess the answer to both would be yes.

Does no one listen to me? I told you schmoes this was his best since Creed of Iron quite some time ago. It's an amazing album. Hails for actually supporting this important band.

Find Lord Wind's 'Atlantean Monument' and there you go. It could be the soundtrack for the Conan movies. An excellent work

Dawn of Iron Blades, to me, is a much improved Fire of Awakening, which I thought was his worst in the "epic era". DoIB is quite good. The opener, #3, and #5 are great songs. Memory and Destiny has surprisingly been the biggest grower. Though Creed of Iron remains one of my faves.

Immortal Pride is the first Hammerheart-esque album, but Darken didn't start cleaning it up (production, cleaner guitars, more identity away from Bathory) until the Raiders of Revenge split. Impaler's Wolves is very epic, as it's two songs from Carpathian Wolves given the epc, sweeping treatment. I understand the Bathory comparison (and it fits), but the band has moved way beyond what Quorthon did with Hammerheart and Twilight.

Also, is it expected that Will Stronger than Death will continue in the same vein as Fire Chariot?

Yes.

I know Necuratul answered the questions, but the power of Graveland compelled me.

Get these if you don't have them: Creed of Iron, Memory and Destiny
