Great advice for Vocal students and any other artist

I've told many students the same thing in different ways as it's just a truth. Talent only gets you so far.

Also, as artists we tend to be pretty tough on ourselves, but this gives a little different perspective.

It also shows why there is no shortcut, or magic bean that's going to suddenly give you everything. If you want it, you have to earn it.

Thought you guys might get some use out of reading it.

when i listen to my early work and my more recent stuff... the gap is closing continually - but still got a lot of work to do.

Sorry but I'm not really sure how that isn't self-explanatory.

I mean, you have to work hard to get good at what you do... How else?

EDIT. However, that's a great point for the guys who come searching this forum for the magical preset that makes your recordings sound tits...

Maybe for you, but for many it's not obvious. If they don't write something amazing in thier first few tries, they give up. Or they think that you either have "it" or not.

Some think there will be some shortcut that everyone else used but aren't telling them about.
