Great bands that get no attention.

Mechanical Poet is another, but I own nothing by them so I can't really say I "SUPPORT" 'em. Their first album was good!

By first album do you mean the EP (Handmade Essence)?

I ended up buying the EP, but also got the special edition release which included the EP and the full length (Woodland Prattlers). I actually still need to get the new one (Creepy Tales For Freaky Children).

The vast majority of the NWOBHM scene...

Blitzkrieg
Angel Witch
A II Z
Trespass
Persian Risk
Aragorn
Fist
Warfare
White Spirit
Diamond Head
Tygers Of Pan Tang
etc.

Here are a few who no one really supports who I actually own CDs of:

Dripping-(brutal/slam death with hip-hop/trance/chamber music samples)

Yeah, my first thought upon entering this thread. Their first album was fucking jaw dropping. Probably gets more plays than almost any of my other albums. One of the best bands around.

Also, I find Sear Bliss to be rather under apreciated.

Nope, I mean Woodland Prattlers. Good shit, my favorite track is Strayed Moppet.

Yep, it's a pwn album. Super heavy and all that shit. The best Dripping song is on their EP, though: Skydiving Out Of The Hemisphere. Download it if you don't have it, because it's pretty impossible to find.

Indeed, they totally are. My favorite is Grand Destiny!

There are too many to name:

Before God (Arghoslent-like death metal)
Legion of Darkness (epic melodic black metal, no keyboards)
Necrophiliac (old school dm in the vein of Incantation)
Horrid (new band, old school style dm with the Sunlight Studios guitar sound)
Hegemon (good, skillfully played French bm)
Mael Mordha (good traditional doom with tons of folk/celtic elements)
Wolfhetan (good black metal featuring a couple members of Odal)

and much more

Maybe it's because they are doom metal yet their name makes people think they are brutal death metal?

That and Australian bands tend not to get the amount of attention they deserve.

well people should stop assuming shit.

3 bands of different genres:
ANATHEMA(radiohead-esque doom?? hard to catergorize)
HATESPHERE(these guys fucking rule, i always find myself listening to them when im lifting weights...thrashy as thrash metal comes and somehow have an unearth vibe to them)
ENSLAVED(they get a significant amount of praise on ultimate metal ive noticed but not enough anywhere else)

Anathema get plenty of attention. Their metal albums are some of the most popular doomdeath next to My Dying Bride, and they probably got even more popular once they stopped playing metal. As for Enslaved, they are widely liked on other message boards that I post at as well, and it seems that all black metal fans agree that their early material was very good. I agree that Hatesphere are relatively unknown. I've heard them before, but for some reason have not bothered to really check them out.

I don't see hardly any good threads you have started in recent times so what do you care? At least there are some "noobs" trying to participate in content creation here.

Besides that, it's a good thread and one I almost started just last week so thanks for starting it.

My list:

Ebony Ark - indeed! One of my fav female fronted bands, good one Xorv. I actually had hoped Nightwish would have selected her as their singer.

I'm sorry to burt your bubble, but I mentioned Ebony Tears

I never heard of that other band.
