Greatest double bass drumming performances

Not having listened to a lot of death metal my commentary on this subject is probably limited, but I really love the double pedal in Artefact's Stellar Winds from 4:19 to the end of the song.

Mmmm I could talk all day in this thread, but to name some favorites:

Decapitated - Day 69
Meshuggah - Bleed
Cephalic Carnage - Exhumed Remains
Nile - Papyrus Containing the Spell to Preserve Its Possessor Against Attacks From He Who Is in the Water
Decapitated - Spheres of Madness
Sickening Horror - An Eerie Aspect Of Us Drowning
Kataklysm - Blood on the Swans
and
Pantera - Becoming (Vinnie Paul was never a great drummer..but I really like his footwork in the beginning of the song)

Yes, triggers allow a drummer to produce a full, loud tone without hitting the pedal hard, since it's just a synthesized drum sound that is being "triggered" (thus the name). Listen to Hellhammer's drumming on the past few Mayhem albums and on "In Sorte Diaboli" by Dimmu and you'll see what I mean. It's just not possible for a human being to play that fast without triggering the kicks.

You still haven't explained how using triggers makes you faster

Not that it's the fastest but Decapitated Spheres of Madness has one of coolest double bass beats ever.

. This

Triggers dont make you faster, fuck. Its like putting a mic on your drums that just amplifies the hit and you can make it sound like you're hitting it hard. At those insane speeds you can't expect a lot of force, triggers are a must. They're especially helpful live. If you ever watch some George Kollias vids, that dude is a beast but he even encourages use of pedals, its very important that the drummer is heard. Fuck people who are all against pedals and shit. If its good enough for George then whatever, I'm cool with triggering as long as its not overused.

To the Victor the Spoils by Morbid Angel has some rather majestic double bass in it.

It would be kind of hard to drum without pedals don't you think?

And yes I understand how triggers work and I'm sick of hearing people's misconceptions regarding them..it's about as much cheating as plugging your guitar into an amplifier..you want it to be heard right?
