I saw those guys live and I would say they are just a straight up thrash band. They are awesome though!

Never ever got the thing with Lazarus AD. I found them to be insanely boring.

I think Groove Metal was a bit important in the 90's with the surge of Grunge, more rap/hip hop, and alternative rock bands, it was a good thing to have Groove Metal, because it was true metal at the time and it was relatively new.
