Groove Metal

Its not the slower tempos, its just the idea that groove is slower thrash when thrash is supposed to be fast as uck most of the time.

Mostly, pople just hate groove because most of it sucks

I'm sure when they were writing their music the only thing that went through their heads was, "Let's make something groovy and heavy."

Listen to Clenching The Fists Of Dissent! That's one fucking awsome groovemetal song. It's kinda thrashy too.

Rob Flynn is one of my favourite vocalists. He doesn't growl, but he still got a fucking brutal voice.

Yes!

I still think "Reclamation" is their best song. Something about it.... I dunno what... its just BADASS!! :kickass:

If the definition of groove metal is basicaly slower, groove-oriented thrash, then I don't think the subgenre is needed. It's thrash. And the bands which aren't thrash which fall into the box "groove metal" are just metal bands. For example Machine Head, who I consider nothing but a modern metal band.

I'm not doubting the existence of 'groove metal' I'm just doubting the fact that it 's a necessary sub genre.

Cowboys from Hell pretty much nailed it for me, and the guitar tone is sexual. Other than Pantera, Groove is basically non-existant in my music vocab.

I saw those guys live and I would say they are just a straight up thrash band. They are awesome though!

I'd say they are groove, as you can see by reading how Dave described groove. They are slower, and far more blues influenced if I do say so myself. Maybe it doesn't come out as much live?

Yeah, sure, fast thrash with great technical riffs, it's good shit. Every once in a while though, I want to just listen to some nice chuggy stuff. I wouldn't say musically it can hold up to thrash or most metal as a genre but it's still fun to listen to.

Better than metalcore at least.
