guess i need to join a gym

do you guys have some kind of Midwestern eagerness to prove your region is cool? jake deadair continually engages me in conversations like this:

ozmagreed: i'm going to see kayo dot and then mike doughty and then anal cunt and then belle and sebastian this week
indieradioisdead: thats cool
indieradioisdead: i'm going to see the cornstormers
indieradioisdead: have you ever heard of the cornstormers?
ozmagreed: umm no
indieradioisdead: they're like des-moine-influenced punk rock from the dubuque scene...soooo good
ozmagreed: there's a dubuque scene?
indieradioisdead: yea...it's not as good as cedar rapids', but it's a bit better than keokuk's
ozmagreed: oh right nothing can really come close to the cedar rapids scene

nah I'm not saying the midwest is cool...just that, after living in the chicago area which is too insanely built up and urban and crowded, that Columbus is, as cities go, not bad. its clean, and the people are polite. still, I recognize that I'm really only here because Dept of Defense paid for my move when they were closing my base in IL, and I needed to work.

I'm a northeasterner at heart. Just as soon as possible, I'll be the fuck out of florida for good and in NH or MA.

what ian said. i assume, if i ever have the chance, i am going to dart back to massachusetts. i can't help it. i just want to.

i'd honestly want a totally different kind of job. ie, NO MORE OFFICES :( i may even move back there for medical school? who knows? we'll see. maybe MIT. maybe i'll work at dairy mart? it's all good. thx.
