Guitar Equipment Help needed!!!

I have been a huge Anthrax fan for over 20 years, including the pre-Fistful of Metal days. After listening to WCFYA and MMD over and over I have decided to end a 16 year hiatus and start playing the guitar again. Since I am so out of the loop equipment wise I thought I'd reach out for some help.

I am looking to spend $500-600 and need everything - guitar, amp, cords, distortion or other effects pedals. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

for guitars i would have a look at Jackson guitars, they are what Scott Ian plays and are top notch

amp wise, i would probably go with a modelling amp, check out the vamp by behringer, its great for headphones or if you have decent hifi/pc speakers. for a 'proper' amp check out the vampire, or almost any of the line 6 stuff

Thanks for the offer, but it's a little out of my range right now. I'm just looking for something decent to get me back into the mix.
