Guitar to bass

I got a PodXT + Peavy 100W Poweramp + 4x12 Cab.

I'm in a side project with 2 guitarists but we can't find the proper bass player, so I'm thinking about playing it myself.

My idea is to get the Bass Expansion por the PodXT and play bass with the Peavey + 4x12).

Is it a good idea or not?

It's aight.

I was actually looking at one of Line6's bass heads that they just started selling recently, look neat and not bad prices. Only thing is that it's basically the PODxt models in it and it's designed like a Spider or whatever to where you are stuck with whatever is available around the knob for models. The sound clips rock though!

only thing is that the cab wont rumble like a bass cab would and you would get alot more top end in your mixes, perhaps if you eq the shit outa it it would sound ok

Now my queston is, does it worth the money the bass expansion
or is enough using the Tube Preamp simulation and some comp, eq... I did at home for recording a demo and sounded great.
