The time has come to vote for your favorite guitar tone yet again. There are 69 entries this time around, far more than the 25 from the first competition. That's why I'll be making several threads, with 7 entries in each. The winners from these thread will face each other head on in the final thread / showdown of semi-epic proportions.

I'll give every round a couple of days to gather enough votes before moving on to the next round. I intend to keep the voting time 5 days, but I'll extend it if needed and shorten if possible. I don't want to rush a round with insufficient votes or drag on too long when there's already a clear winner.

When voting, please keep in mind this is about the guitar tone. Some have louder guitars than others. No extreme differences though. Some files were submitted with master bus changes. These were disqualified. Some files were submitted with a much louder backing track. These too were disqualified. All the uploaded files here have been checked, but it may be that we missed a mistake. If you hear that someone didn't follow the rules let Anssi and myself know.

Without further delay, here are the first 7 contestants for round one.

If you recognise your own work, please keep it to yourself. Usernames will be made public in the end. Please place your vote, and post in the thread with your reasoning!

All uploaded files are 320kbps mp3s.

Hmm.. why not post several rounds and give them a week time? And then post bunch of other rounds next week? I mean, this is very time consuming with this many entries... IMHO

BTW, what was the point of sending guitar tracks soloed since we cant judge them ...?

Oh wow, 320 kbps changed the perception of the sound. The E i liked before is not good anymore :-/

@spamds: its to make sure that no one 'cheated' by using any thing on the masterbus or raising the backing track..
its F for me..

I hope you won't hate me for this but I'm not a fan of any of these tones. I found 'B' and 'F' to be closest to 'acceptable', with 'F' being just a bit better, so I voted for it.

I went with b

I noticed some of the clips having trouble with low mids (multiband compression people!!!) and way to much high end for my liking, not a fan of the fizz

For me it's a really hard round to vote.

A - really strange and muffled sound. Doesn't really do it for me

B - Good tone in general, the guitars are mixed too loud, center guitar is a little bit low compared to the other guitars. Lead FX makes me nuts "sorry"

C - lacks upper mids

D - too dark for this song

E - very aggressive and ear piercing

F - At first I liked it as well, but listening to this track on my studio monitors reveals some really boomy low end. The lead FX is much too wet for my taste

G - Too muddy and muffled

Sorry guys. I didn't want to hurt anyone, that's just my personal opinion.

In this round the winner for me is track "B" even if I didn't like the Lead Guitar and the Guitar is mixed too loud.

I haven't made up my mind yet, but I am definitely not voting for C. The rules said no editing the backing tracks and the guy adds an automation. Fuck that, the rules are the fucking rules.
