This round will get 7 days because I am uploading two rounds at once.

When voting, please keep in mind this is about the guitar tone. Some have louder guitars than others. No extreme differences though. Some files were submitted with master bus changes. These were disqualified. Some files were submitted with a much louder backing track. These too were disqualified. All the uploaded files here have been checked, but it may be that we missed a mistake. If you hear that someone didn't follow the rules let Anssi and myself know.

Without further delay, here are the 7 contestants for round nine.

If you recognise your own work, please keep it to yourself. Usernames will be made public in the end. Please place your vote, and post in the thread with your reasoning!

All uploaded files are 320kbps mp3s. Note that this round starts with 9D due to previous disqualification. Almost there!

Yeah, is it the last qualifiers round and is it going to be 2 semifinal rounds next or just 1?

I must clearly be a damaged engineer, because I've voted for the guitar sound that made the mix sound good. For me, a good guitar sound makes the song better, the vocals need to be heard and so on.

If I'm lucky, I might get one or two votes. ;) The best part is that I'm not even sure which one I made, haha. Talk about adjusting the tone after the music.

^ On probably 90% of the clips the guitars are so loud and overwhelming they make the drums sound like ... no idea what, the can barely be heard.

Same here. Unfortunatley it seems like people tend to favor loudness. But if that's what people like, then that's what they like.

^ I think for the next round we should submit the guitars track only and the organizers should adjust them to have roughly the same apparent loudness.

Well, this contest is still about "Guitar Tone." So I didn't care about the loudness. If the guitars sounded awesome, then I didn't care if they crushed everything in the mix.

HOWEVER, the next contest should be a MIXING contest. Raw REAL drums, DIs, raw vocals. I think then you can criticize if the guitars/vox/snare/kick/bass are too loud our crappy.

Comparing guitar tones without keeping the consistency in levels is ridiculous for me. Everyone, from the layman to the seasoned professional is susceptible to the nature of human hearing.
