I was just messing around seeing which of these I liked better. I realize the song and the playing suck but it's just an old riff I'm using to test this. All the settings are the same even though it seemed there was about a 0.2-0.3 dB difference or so between the two impulses volume wise. All the post processing is just a low pass filter at 12k. Let me know which you guys like. I think I'm still digging the spreshigh because it's got a little bit more hi-end and the low end is tighter. The Ghandi 4x12 6L6 57 Edge sounds a little flabby in the low end and a little dull. What do you guys think?

The Ghandi IRs in the Recabinet demo are from Recabinet 1.0. There are no demo versions of the new, resampled Ghandi 2.0 IRs. One of the things that people are going to love/hate about the 1.0 library is that it's all fairly dark sounding, due to the use of the UA 610 mic pre. In 2.0, the IRs are more even balanced, since we used an API 3124 pre and a better room.

Both clips sound pretty good, by the way.

Oh, cool, thanks for clearing that up Kazrog. I was wondering about the labeling on the folders but just thought it was a typo. Guess not! haha.

Why no demos of the new sampled IR's if they're better sounding? Does it seem like too many people are just using the demos and not buying your product or something?

First of all, make sure you have the latest demo:

Second of all, there ARE demos of the 2.0 IRs, just not demos of every cabinet. Since there's already a lot of Ghandi IRs in the 1.0 demo, I figured it would make more sense to include IRs of other cabinets from 2.0. When you buy Recabinet Modern or Recabinet Complete, you get the 1.0 library as a bonus, so we are still very much in the business of marketing both libraries. 2.0 doesn't replace 1.0, it just adds to the library in other words.

I'm totally cool with people using the demo IRs on commercial recordings, and if our demo is good enough to use for that purpose then it really proves the value of the whole library. I know that anyone who loves the demo is going to buy the full version eventually, so I'm not worrying about the fact that the ratio of demo users to registered users is about 10 to 1 - that's just a reality of the software business and I'm happy to know that people are at least giving Recabinet a try.
