"Stoneladen aisles" ...Seems like a reference to tombstones - a graveyard. "Hardcarved Death" could be a further description thereof, or this could all be metaphorical for something else, or I could be totally wrong altogether...

handcraved death to me implies that the person in the graveyard was killed by the hand of man (i.e. didn't die of natural causes)
