Have The Iron Maidens played anything from A Matter Of Life And Death yet?

Not yet but you never know, they might. In the sticky thread at the top, it lists all the songs they have ever done whether they are staples in the set, or just one off's. The only songs done so far from the "reunion" era are The Wicker Man and Blood Brothers. I know a couple of the girls, especially Sara, have expressed an interest in doing Paschendale tho. That would be awesome!! :kickass:

I'd love to hear the ladies play something from the Blaze era. I know that's a touchy subject since America is full of fair-weather Maiden fans who really hate Blaze. But, the band did do some great songs with him. Man on the Edge, The Clansman, and Futureal were all played by the band in the Ed Hunter tour with Dickinson, and the fans seemed to like those songs with him singing them.

I think it would be great if the ladies at least did a field test of one of those songs at a hometown show.

Don't forget that they also played Lord of the Flies and Sign of the Cross.

That's true! I just recommended the three songs from the Ed Hunter tour because I think they've stood the test of time and make for a better charged crowd. I love SOTC and LOTF, but SOTC might be too long for a dark-mood song, and the fans seemed to have always prefered Man on the Edge over LOTF--maybe because MOTE is a bit more upbeat. Both MOTE and The Clansman have choruses the fans can really get into, and Futureal is a nice, short and sweet, classic Maiden rocker.

By the way, I just wish the fans that so passionately hate Blaze would stop and realize that just because they think his singing is bad does not automatically equate to meaning that the music is bad, too. I think Dickinson proved very well that at least five of the songs Blaze did with Maiden are excellent songs in their own right.

I totally agree!!! I do really like both those albums. My only beef with VXI is that it's waaaaay too repetitive but I think those songs are good, as are TXF's. My favourite Blaze era songs are The Clansman, Judgement Of Heaven and Futureal.

For me, the great ones for TXF are Man on the Edge, Edge of Darkness, SOTC, and Judgement Day (not on the album, unfortunately). As with VXI, which is repetetive like you say, I really enjoy Futureal, Clansman, the 4 minute version of Angel and the Gambler, Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger.

I really enjoy Blaze's stuff. The first gig I saw was at Universal City in 1998. A lot of fans were jeering, but I was enjoying every bit of it. I also liked that Tribe of Gypsies opened up. It was cool seeing the legendary Roy Z in action.

It has been talked about a lot on here but IIRC the ladies said it boils down to Paschendale and a other stuff can't be done without Michael Kenny due to the abundance of keyboards in it.

A lot of bands that use keyboards but don't have a keyboard member just pre-record the keyboard portion for the live show. I don't see why the ladies can't do that, unless it's because they want to be a completely live act in the truest sense.

What about guitar synths? Probably the next best thing.

The problem with that is that ya gotta play to a click then and playing Maiden to a click just doesn't sound good! :yuk: Maiden is best in real human time.
