Have we discussed Novembre here?

Just listened to Novembrine Waltz -- my first taste of Novembre, thanks Papa -- all I can say is, why didn't anyone tell me how magnificent this is?

:kickass:

Although you can't beat the original "Cloudbusting"....

Novembrine Waltz is brilliant. I guess I need to work my way BACKWARDS through their catalog, because the new one is not so good.

Based on the new album, what Rapture are to Katatonia, Novembre are to [latter day] Anathema, which is not a good thing in my book. :erk:

They've pretty much dropped all the heaviness that was so abundant on Novembrine Waltz. It all sounds whiny now. If there were any Opeth'isms on previous albums, they've been abandoned completely now for that Radiothema vibe. Ugh.

Novembrine Waltz is their best. New one still needs time, and I need lyrics.

Funny how I saw a lot of fanzine support for Wish I Could Dream It Again and then never saw anything about them ever again Stateside. heh. Shocked as hell when Century Media picked them up. Not quite so shocked to see how that turned out.

I'll be seeing them (and Katatonia) in Jyväskylä on the 28th. Hoping to interview Carmelo again.

They have a new one out??? For some reason I thought they broke up

I really really like Novembrine Waltz, especially the track "Cloudbursting" or whatever it's called

It's a Kate Bush song

You didn't know that? Dude, it's a great song and GREAT video. Well, it's probably old and dated now but it was one of those videos that had a cool storyline to it. Plus it had Donald Sutherland and he's always cool.

Classica is the only one I listen to any more. Novembrine Waltz never really grabbed me. I'll occasionally pop in Dreams D'Azur, which is good, too, but not at the level of Classica. I have the original version of that one, as well (Wish I Could Dream It Again), but I only have the other one on mp3 (they offered both of their first 2 CDs for free download on mp3.com for a while, years ago).

I thought they had disbanded, too, since their website sat around for years without an update and then, I thought, went away. I'll have to go check out the new one.

I downloaded the song last night and it made me sad. :(

I'm liking "Materia" a lot, though it can't compete with "Classica" and "Novembrine Waltz." Wish there were more growls too, but the material is great in and of itself.

Well well, the new release just made album of the week.

I actually think it's much better than the previous, but after about 4 or 5 songs, my interest starts to drop. It's just a little too clean sounding.

I just realized, I've STILL never heard Classica. My fave is, and always probably will be, Novembrine Waltz.

I'm kind of pissed at them. 'The Blue' is just like 'Materia', but better. Like they said "whoops, 'Materia' wasn't quite as good as it should have been, we're gonna retract that, and give you the finished version, 'The Blue', instead". You could have told me that before I bought 'Materia'! Because now that one is pretty much useless.

Novembrine Waltz - 27
Classica - 26
The Blue - 23
Dreams D'Azur - 20
Wish I Could Dream It Again - 19
Materia - 19

...where 27 = "perfect" and 9 = "garbage".

I love(d) Classica and lost track of the band ever since. I just remember hearing Novembrine Waltz twice or so and finding it sort of over the top, lacking some "innocence" in the making.
