Having fun with the X50 and my new PC

Hey,

did my first mix on my new PC and finally had the opportunity to use the X50 (my old pc always crashed, cpu was way too weak ). Did a little mix of the Ride The Lightning cover posted by a guy I don't remember here, so all credits for recording go to him. Check it out, let me know what you think!

The whole mix is boomy. The snare very muffled. The bass lacks clarity and definition. Try to works those things.

Okay, gonna try to fix this as soon as possible. Can you maybe elaborate a bit on the boomy thing, any suggestions what to do?

vocals stick out way to much in my opinion. Maybe some extra reverb or eq'ing out some of those harsh higher frequencys?

The biggest problem is that you have a messy low end. Toms, bass and snare have to much low end. Now that I heard better the song. The bass is loud, try to cut some mids and some low end and if necessary use a multiband compression to compress the low end a bit more. You could try a tube screamer for the grit, add clarity bwetween 2khz and 6khz. Dont be afraid of extreme equalizations if necessary. The snare need to stick out more, add a boost around 3khz/6khz. Same for the toms, but for toms cut some mids between 500hz. You need to put the things in their places or you will have intruments fighting between each other.
