Hey guys so im working on this cover of a Periphery song and I was just wondering if you guys could give me some mixing pointers...

The guitars sound like crap to me right now. I have used quite a bit of eq on them and I know thats not the right thing to do but they still dont sound good.

Also, sorry about the sloppyness in the playing, I need to edit the tracks still or I might just end up redoing the takes. So anyway I am trying to get this sounding as close to the real version as possible so all suggestions are appreciated!

I also provided a link to a picture of what the eq on my guitars looks like

Amp sim? Axe fx?

Find an amp sim or axe fx patch that sounds the way you want it to sound off the bat. You shouldn't need much more than HP and LP if you've got the right tone in the first place.

I'd say go back and edit/re-do the takes before you try to work a mix on it. That sort of sound is extremely heavily edited and you'll be able to hear the effect of your EQ better once its all locked down tight.
