I think it went something like this (taken from mtv.com):

Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames
As I Lay Dying - The Sound of Truth (this wasn't half bad -still don't like hardcore bark vocals)
Serj Tarkin - The Unthinking Majority
Sevendust - Beg to Differ
Demon Hunter - Fading Away
Down - On March the Saints
Baroness - Wanderlust
Underoath - A Moment Suspended in Time
Symphony X - Set the World on Fire
Autumn Offering - From Atrophy to Obsession
Horse the Band - New York City
The Mars Volta - Wax Simulacra (WTF?!?!?!)
The Red Chord - Dread Prevailed
Avenged Sevenfold - Almost Easy
Pig Destroyer - Loathsome
Exodus - Riot Act

That's a pretty astoundingly awesome lineup:

I haven't given the HBB any attention for a long time... maybe I should start.

I saw the list on mtv.com but I saw part of it last night and there was a video that does not seem to be on this list above. Did anyone record it? If so, can you confirm what was on it?

There was nothing that special about the video.....a pretty basic performance video in a random location. The singer had almost no hair.....just a little bit on top. The vocal was mostly clean and in a higher register than most things on there with some nice backing vocals. I was falling a sleep as it was playing so the detalis are not clear. The music was more progresive in nature that most on there. It seems there was a bit of screaming toward the end but very little. I remeber the guitar player had a green guitar and was playing a bunch of licks on the fingerboard.

They didn't play a second show or something did they?

The MTV list has some videos that were not on the show (that's why my list and the MTV list are different). I tried to remember the best I could from the list they had as I fast forwarded through most of the show.

*edit* Another band that wasn't on my list or the MTV list was Protest the Hero. Maybe that's the band you are thinking about.

Really?!?!?! I watched the Symphony X and Exodus vids. The Mars Volta one lasted about 3.2 seconds before the fast forward button was pushed. I've seen the Down and Dragonforce vids before, so there were passed.

I saw that too and I did record it. It's one of the most unusual songs I've heard in awhile. It was all over the place. I'd like to hear what the rest of their stuff sounds like. The guitarist looked to me like he was finger tapping.

I was shocked that they actually played a vid from your boys, Symphony X!

That was Protest the Hero! They caught my attention on this past weekend's show too. That guy on the green guitar is pretty damn good too! It came on right before Symphony X.

I had TiVo'd the show too (wanted to make sure I didn't miss Symphony X). After seeing that PtH song, I had to rewind and watch again. And that is *exactly* how I described it too -- all over the place! Something made me like it though (even though it had some rougher vocals -- but they really fit). I'm interested in checking out more of their stuff now too. I don't remember specific finger tapping passages (but I'm sure he did). However, he mostly was picking out those runs and his technique was very accurate! I have no problem thinking his best friend is a metronome.

I saw PTH open for Dragonforce and I thought they were horrible live. i had a feeling it was because they are "so out there" that live doesn't translate well. So I listened to a couple songs on their site and didn't like those either. To me, there just isn't any (or not a lot of) structure in the song and I have a really hard time following what they are trying to do. To me, it sounds like a mess - like 5 people are doing 5 different things at the same time.

Wow, that sucks to hear. I think you may be right about them being too out there for live to work well. They actually kinda reminded of Into Eternity at moments. Yeah, but sometimes I like a good mess! ;) I'm even wearing my Spiral Architect shirt today!:rock:
