Headbangers Ball

Yeah, but sometimes I like a good mess! ;)

I played a track off of the first Power of Omens CD for a coworker one time and they looked at me real funny and said " It sound like they have an organizational problem".

Maybe that is why I like the PTH song, I like songs that are all over the place.

I really like Symphony X, I think there new album Paradise Lost is one of the best I've bought in the last year BUT... that video was embarrassing. It looked like a Manowar video from the 80's, and a cheesy one at that. Oh well, I still enjoyed the music.

Rick, don't hold me to that, because I'm not a guitarist. ;) Whatever he was doing, it was quite impressive and fun to watch.

Nope!! Too late!! You are now being 100% accountable for that statement. Yes, I agree. I found it impressive and fun to watch as well. BTW, I went back and watched it again and sure enough he does do quite a bit of tapping! So you are correct sir! Very smooth and accurate as well. He had caught my attention more with the very accurately picked straight eighth-note runs (which can be deceptively difficult), so I guess I didn't register that part. The bass player has a pretty cool tapping part as well.

In case you'd like to watch again right now:

Enjoy!

Well, I should've played that out like I knew what the heck it was I was talking about! I appreciate the props!

I actually saw Protest the Hero open for Dragonforce and thought they were pretty good. They didn't pull everything off perfectly, but overall I liked their show. I have their first album and it is a pretty solid album, with some technical fun stuff mixed with some modern sounding "emo" vocals...actually the term all over then place works pretty well for them.

Did anyone see this past week's show? I may get flamed for this here, but I have to say, I'm diggin' the Bullet for My Valentine song and video! I also can't believe they actually played a classic video from Skid Row, Slave To the Grind.

I walked in on that BFMV video after they had shown who it was and I really liked that song. My buddy and I were amazed when we saw that it was Bullet for My Valentine. It hurts to think I like a song by them, but whatever. It had a kinda old school Metallica thing going on in the vocals. It's by far better than anything they have done in the past, not that that is saying much. They played that Protest The Hero song again, too. I dunno what I think about them yet. Their whole CD is all over the place and unstructured. I guess they are another one of these "Math Metal" bands (what a stoopid label, eh?). And the new DT video was supremely disappointing in my opinion...

There is still one song missing and that is the song from August Burns Red and they have some cool stuff, as long as you don't mind not that bad of hardcore vocals. Well, not hardcore hardcore, but along those lines but more metalcorish I guess you could say. Their musicianship is good and their drummer is amazing.

i kinda like that protest song - it completely took me off guard since after seeing them live, i was NOT a fan. i guess they grew a bit.
For those on myspace, they were also the big featured band on the music page the other day.

What's wrong with manowar?

Oh no!!!!! Now you have done it!!!!!!!! That is a loaded question for the Manowar haters on this forum.

I like Manowar and Love Symphony X and I did not understand the comparison in videos. The cheesy part maybe but beyond that, I see no similarities.

Maybe Carl Hungus can tell us what Manowar video it reminded him of.
