-FUCKING STUPID THREAD ALERT-

What headphones do you use for listening to your music? Not for when you’re on the go or on the computer, just for when you sit down with an album with no outside distractions. Right now I’m using these, the Sony MDR-ED21LP;

They have amazing sound quality but they start to feel loose after a while from banging my head too hard, & I’m looking for a new pair with equal sound but a more stable fit.

Anyone have those fancy Bose noise-cancelling ones? Are they worth the cash?

The gadget show featured them on a side-by-side review of similar earphones - I think they were panned as being not very good. The winner was (from memory) a relatively cheap pair of Phillips headphones.

Headphones break a lot in my experience. Eventually one of the ears stops working, and I know of no way to fix this. I had a $75 set of Philips noise cancelling ones, and now they're useless because one ear only plays at about 20% of the intended volume.

I mainly use $10 Koss earpieces now.

I had a pair of Sennheiser HD 497's up until recently. Sadly they broke and the store only had HD 437's so I just bought one of those instead, figuring there would not be much difference (they are about the same price). But they're a bit too muddy and bassy for my tastes. The HD 497 was really nice though, very affordable, comfortable and sounds good.

For my iPod I have a Sennheiser PMX 60. They're nice but the fact that they are fairly open means you get a lot of background noise and people next to you can hear your music very easily (how much of a problem this is depends on how anti-social you are I suppose). They are the neckbrace kind which looks less dumb than normal headphones and is more comfortable/stable than earplugs. I love them. My only complaint is that they could have a bit more bass.

One word - KOSS

Listening with these headphones made my life nicer and brighter. Really. I'd give a ficking Nobel award to the creator of these... But then, there's a fact that depresses me, I've been waiting for repair for more than two weeks now...

I can't wait to wear that masterpiece on my ugly head...

I only wear headphones that cover the entire ear. I refuse to wear those stupid little ones you insert in your ears. They don't sound as good and they feel terrible.

Exactly - :)

I started buying larger headphones after I saw that anti-drug commercial with that anti-druggy wearing large headphones.
Right now I have Philips headphones, not noise cancelling or anything, but good nonetheless.

Generally, yes, but these particular Sony ones (which are the same, I think, as mine) are both comfortable, noise reducing and sound great with my Zen Touch. Generally speaking, I prefer to hear metal through speakers, but that isn't always possible (i.e. when forced to do shopping etc)

I got them as a gift from somebody a few years ago, and they are still my main pair of headphones. When you listen to a cd, you can't hear anything outside the headphones. I love em.
