About the Mars volta, I feel like their rhythm section is incredible. THey'd be an awesome fusion band if they just dropped the horrendous singer and wanking guitarist.

actually, when all you can play is random notes, rhythm is all you've got. and, you have obviuosly never heard the entire album deloused.

Just because youre playing random notes, doesn't mean you've got rhythm. He may be a fine rhythm player, but as a lead guitarist, spare my ears. I do appreciate some of Deloused, but that's about the only album i can tolerate by them. I saw a live performance on like MTV9 or something (whichever one actually plays music) and it was pretty god awful aside from the kick ass drumming, bass, and keys.
