My perspective has turned optimistic after giving these bands a thorough inspection. Wraithian's a complete dud, but Metsatoll and Lunarium are a fun listen. :headbang:

Yeah, I had you pegged for digging Metsatöll and was actually surprised you weren't aware of them. They're kind of like Korpiklanni for me in the sense that I can see myself really enjoying them live with a few "drunk like a conquering viking" friends. Not really something I'd listen to on my own though.

As for Wraithian and Lunarium, pass.

99% of heathen/pagan music is the type of music I'd enjoy live, but I'd never listen to them on my own.

It depends. For me, I prefer the more extreme side that emphasizes blackened/melodic riffing rather than something that could be classified as ultra jolly folk or that relies too heavily on "wandering minstrel" type passages. I want it heavy, intense, catchy and in your face. That's the type of heathen/pagan music I'll glady throw on in a private setting. Bands like Thyrfing, older Moonsorrow, Waylander, hell Primordial and Mael Mordha. That's what I want to hear.

While swaying the ol' mug of ale back and forth has its place, when Thyrfing took the stage at HC 1, stared down the crowd, then proceeded to just go fucking balls out and slay, it was among the more memorable concert experiences I've ever had. Headbanging Heaven. Or even better....Valhalla.

Noctis Valkyries.

I may attend Noctis and HCIII, depending on who Noctis Valkyries signs. I'll just have to get plastered BEFORE the show.

Mike, judging by your current taste in music, you should put all your eggs in the Doomed or Be Doomed basket.

It's funny how two years ago everyone was going ape shit over Moonsorrow coming to the U.S and today everyone is apathetic to the announcement. Aren't we a fickle bunch?!?! I'm pretty happy over Wolven Ancestry and Chaos Moon (I'm assuming they'll be taking Wraithian's spot) How many bands left to be announced 5-6?

Think it has something to do with their latest releases... if they play older shit and ignore those 30 minute boring fuckers, then I'm sure all will be well.

If the set consists of their 3 30 minute bastards, and that hilariously awful cover of for whom the bell tolls, I'm gonna be pissed.

Wolven Ancestry is amazing live. I put a show together for them here last August and was blown away by them. Everyone was, for the most part. I was on the fence until they added them and Chaos Moon. I will most likely have to attend this one.

Bands needing your food stamps, go vote.

You have to consider just how fucking glorious it would be if HC3 featured Ancient Rites, Moonsorrow, Pagan Altar, and Mael Mordha (so vote accordingly). :loco:

And then back it up with a paypal transaction. :loco: :loco:
