Heavy guitar sounds in standard tuning?

Can someone recommend some bands that sound really HEAVY and that do not tune low? Are there any modern bands anymore that tune to e? Lots of examples in old school bands of course, but I'm looking for some new stuff

I think Deicide play (or used to play) in E flat (or D#, don't remember if the english term is "flat"). That's not E, but they have a heavy sound for something close to the standard tuning.

Gojira play in D standard I think, which isn't what I'd call low (seeing as there are plenty of mainstream bands that will drop a step live).

Early Metallica records have some weird tunings, Kill em All is tuned very sharp, almost like to F if I remember correctly, fucking annoying when you want to jam with the cd

I think it's the physical tape that causes it. Playback speed etc. You can also hear it on Machine Head's Burn My Eyes.
