Damn, I think Ray Alder is an excellent vocalist... especially his recent work on "Disconnected". Very emotional and "personal" voice.

Sound master, the Pain of salvation vocalist is awsume and I recommend giving POS another try.
If anything death vox and growls are the most forced, fake and theatrical "singing" around. Not that I don't like it but condemning singers who actually HAVE VOCAL LINES is just ignorant.Originally posted by Satori
Right on! I also fucking hate this lame dream theatre and pain of salvation crap as well, that crappy "oh look at me in my fit of self-indulgent musical masturbation, I'm so sensitive and serious and emotional, I'm going to cry now, boo-hoo-hoo, I'm so cool and worldly" bullshit makes me want to wretch feces. I find it FAKE and FORCED and therefore not real music. That sort of music reminds me so much of something like Celine Dion, ewww.

Singing about your own infidelity, the miscarriage of your child, and the suicide of someone you knew (some of the issues on PoS' latest album) is fake and not real music?

well, i don't consider 311 real music either, but if my memory doesn't fail me, you do.
i just hope you don't listen to arcturus or children of bodom because they are quite self-indulgent with their music.

I mean when you hear someone doing death metal vox is just like they are saying "We are really tough and scarry because I'm singing really low like a horrible frightening monster... Grrrrrr...."
Singing began both to convey a actuall message and to be musical. Enough so that it could stand on its own. But with death vox the second part is clearly gone
and the kind of messages are limited by the style of singing.
