Well, I like Dream Theater. And I'll admit that it's cheesy. It's self-indulgent. But, hey, everyone gets in those moods, right? I mean, as long as Petrucci continues to play like he does, I'll continue to listen. Hell, I even like Labrie's voice. I still think Hansi is the best actual singer in metal, these days, though.

As for Pain of Salvation-- I've never even heard 'em.

Satori, I realize that you don't care for these bands, but to some people here, they are the greatest bands alive. Now, I know you said that a time will come in every person's life when he/she realizes that certain music is better left unheard, but that's just it-- it takes time. No matter how much someone may be harrassed and harangued, he/she will not learn any faster when it's simply a matter of maturing tastes. I know that you're simply trying to do a favour for some of the people, and that's admirable, but taste is something tempered over many years, not just in mere moments. Some people may never realize that DT's wankery is just that, but if that's the case, then great for that person. The way I see it is that if someone can form a bond, be it spiritual or emotional, with a band, more power to him/her. In the world we live in, everyone needs a crutch, a boost. If listening to DT or PoS and being able to relate to the lyrics, the emotion [be it forced or not] in a singer's voice, or just the passion of the music keeps someone going, then isn't it worth it? I've said my peace.

I thought that the thing that matters is if you like it or not which in your case includes a band like 311 and shame on anyone who used this as a tool to argue with you! The discussion is about your veiws with DT and PoS only and it's fine if you don't like them but the insults that you've repeatedly thrown out towards the people here are surprising and uncalled for!

Plus the statement above screems that you don't feel that they are talented and now you're throwing out this statement:
