Which one do you think is the best overall?

Out of their discographies, which is the best album?

If you could see one of them play live, which would it be?

Which one do you think shows the most promise for the future?

Which one could you live without?

Enslaved CRUSHES them all!

'Eld' is my favorite of the ones I own, but I only have 'Below the Lights' in addition to 'Eld'. I'm looking forward to getting the new one as a promo any day now. I'd also like to get all their other stuff. Maybe I should just go ahead and get it ASAP.

Helheim - Only heard Jormungandr which is pretty spectacular

Graveland - Haven't heard anything, I've concluded that I don't like his music since it seems to have such a great focus on only beeing epic, which doesn't do much for me

Enslaved - I've only heard parts of Vikingr Veldi...

Hades - Dunno, but I'm planning on getting DotDS soon

Morrigan - Have EtSoF which I didn't like very much at all for the same reasons that I've not checked out Graveland

So, Helheim it is :]

Enslaved, by far. Already seen them live, twice ;) Enslaved's best work is Vikingligr Veldi, Graveland's best is The Celtic Winter, Helheim's best is probably Blod & Ild (Erik will probably call me crazy, but I haven't listened enough to Av Norrøn Ætt, Jormundgand and that other with the Norse name), Hades' best is Dawn Of The Dying Sun. Haven't listened enough to Morrigan to give a verdict on their works.

I could do just fine without both Morrigan and Hades.

All bands?
Enslaved - Vikingligr Veldi
Morrigan - Not certain, they pretty much tie but possibly Enter the Sea of Flames
Helheim - Nidr ok Nordr ligr Helvegr
Hades - Dawn of the Dying Sun (Only one I have heard)
Graveland - Not sure

Enslaved

Graveland

Hades

I of course chose Graveland. The band has morphed twice, just like Enslaved did. I love all those bands, though.

Helheim's Av Norron Aett is probably the best "pure" album out of the lot, but I'll always prefer mid-era Graveland.

Dawn of the Dying SUn is just perfect for what it is.

I have Helheim - Jormundgand and Enslaved - Below the Lights. Haven't heard the other bands, but both of those albums are chock full of ass kickery.

Doomcifer knows where it's at.

I like Enslaved, but Below the Lights, Blodhemn, and Mardraum almost do nothing for me. On the other hand, I love the other 4.

I love everything Graveland has done since The Celtic Winter.

Helheim does nothing for me.

Early Enslaved rules, new Enslaved is not my cup of tea whatsoever really. I guess I can see where people say it is good, but like J. said, it doesn;t do anything for me.

I have DoTDS by Hades [Almighty] and fucking love it but that is all I have heard from them.

Morrigan kick a lot of ass but I haven't given them as much time as I have Graveland.

Graveland just fucking rule. Epic, emotional, transcendental...right up my alley.

Oh come on, Av Norron Aett is just brilliant. I don't see the fascination with Jormundgand, though. Those banshee screams ruin everything. But Av Norron Aett is a masterpiece.

Other than Monumension, I can't really stomach newer Enslaved. But the first three albums from them rule.

Yeah, DotDS is beautiful. Again Shall Be is almost as good.

I like Morrigan a lot. Though I really don't know why people call them a Bathory rip off. To my knowledge, Quorthon only used clean vocals for his viking metal albums, except BFD. And this may open a hornet's nest on my ass, but Morrigan>Bathory

Graveland is like you said. Just awesome music.

Enslaved , I like all of their material so far .
J. have you heard ISA?

BUMP

I finally put on Enslaved's first album and it fucking blew me away, so I put on Helheim. They finally clicked. God damn all of these bands rule and I can't choose my favourite.

spaffe, if you haven't heard graveland yet just try out the old stuff, particularly "Thousand Swords". It's a good black metal (for the most part) album that was before his more polished epic stuff later on in the catalogue.

Nope, I still haven't heard any of his stuff, but I'll keep that album in mind when I finally decide to
