Am I the only one with the balls to say that Morrigan kicks the shit out of Enslaved? Vikingligr Veldi really couldn't hold a candle to Morrigan's weakest album. (Which is debatable to which one that would be)

Yea baby. :kickass:

Enslaved is the best of them. Best album = Isa, but I also like their early work.

Graveland's best is Following the voice of blood. Don't like the epic-only stuff after that.

Hades: I only have Again shall be, which is pretty good but I don't spin it much.

don't know anything by Helheim and Morrigan.

Which one do you think is the best overall?

Out of their discographies, which is the best album?

If you could see one of them play live, which would it be?

Which one do you think shows the most promise for the future?

Which one could you live without?

1. No way could I say that.
2. Enslaved - Vikingligr Veldi
Graveland - Thousand Swords
Hades - ...Again Shall Be
Morrigan - Enter Sea of Flames
Helheim - Jormundgand
3. Enslaved if they only play the first few.
4. Morrigan, since I heard the new ones are just as good as the old ones.
5. None

FUCK! I just remembered I bought Mayhemic Truth, listened once, liked it, and forgot all about it. Now it's sitting at home not being played.

I think you mean "brains", and retarded crazy brains too. Vikingligr Veldi is one of the very best albums ever.

Couldn't find any other thread, but has anyone spent any time with the new Morrigan? I'll admit, I've only ever listened to the first 2 Morrigan albums. They're ok I guess, I don't ever listen to them.

The new one, The Damned, however, sounds really cool. I've only heard the tracks "Boiling Blood" and "Carnal Desire" and I think they're both pretty excellent. How is the rest of the album?

....holy shit, I'm now listening to "Teutates Warcult". Sorry folks but this is truly excellent. I'm now anxious to hear the whole album.....

Furthermore, how were Celts, Headcult, and Welcome to Sahmain? Not that I'm in any rush, right now I want to focus on The Damned.

Celts was awesome.
Headcult is their best. So damn good. Took the Bathory worship to new heights.
Samhain was a disappointment.
The Damned is a step back in the right direction

I found The Damned to be a bit disappointing because it sounds like they're moving away from the Black Metal-era Bathory influences. Still a solid album, but I honestly prefer Welcome To Samhain (though I may be the only one in the world to do so) because it's so stripped down and the influences are there. My rankings:

1. Plague, Waste, And Death
2. Headcult
3. Enter The Sea Of Flames
5. Celts
5. Welcome To Samhain
6. The Damned

Enter the Sea of Flames and Headcult are my two favourites. Also, if I could vote again I would probably change my vote to Helheim or Morrigan now.

It's odd that you say that. After listening to Headcult, it sounds like Hammerheart part 2. The Damned, however, is much more in the vein of pagan black metal. I listened to some of Celts too, damn that "Giants in Stone" song rules.

The first four albums to me seemed like a gradual, logical progression from The Return... through Blood Fire Death style Bathory and culminating in Hammerheart worship on Headcult, and then they tried to to backwards again, actually sounding more like Mayhemic Truth, and now they seem to be trying to find their own way with The Damned.

That sounds exactly right! I think that's why I like The Damned so much, it's got all those previous Bathory elements -- both black and viking -- plus a heavy dose of that pagan style riffery* we all seem to love so much.

*Drudkh, Astrofaes, October Falls, Raventale, etc. [aka good black metal without resorting to dreaded blast beat overuse]
