I agree, Simen's best performances are outside of Dimmu...Archaic Course and La Masquerade Infernale.

I wish Simen would go back to Borknagar, but that they keep vintersorg too. that would be incredible. i thoroughly enjoy simens work with the borkies than with dimmu. "Colossus" is one of my favorite bork. and overall songs.

Simen was on Quintisessence too then (I don't have Archaic Course). I actually prefer Empiricism anyway - I'm blown away by Vintersorgs clean vox.
Sounds like I need to get Archaic Course though...later. Much later - sometime next year maybe.

Empiricism is also my favorite Borknagar album largely due to Vintersorg's vocals and the increasingly proggy elements, but the ones with Simen are awesome as well.
I have to agree with Papa Josh on the lack of Simens clean vocals on DCA as well. He has an amazing voice that is far superior to Shagraths. He shouldnt be doing backup singing for a sub-par band either. Anyway im just ranting now. I am a fan of vintersorgs vocals but i think simens vocals fit borknagar better.

Haven't heard an entire Cradle CD, so I can't comment. But Dimmu, other than a very few select tracks, are about as relevant as 50 Cent.

I listened to Puritanical the other night, still don't really like it, but I don't hate it or anything. Simen's vocals were better than I remembered, but I still find his voice a bit sterile. Not bad though.
I listened to both CDs again yesterday a couple times. I think if i had to choose one it would be DCA. Theres only 2 tracks that are worthless to me: Progencies of the Great Apocalypse and Allehelgens Dod I Helveds Rike (thats mainly due to the fact that simens has some great parts on those songs). But really, neither album sparks my interest really. I do think that DCA is better than puritanical vomitorium insanitytyjigger.
