I built another computer, and I'm running suse 10.1 on it. It feels so good to be free of windows.

no, doing it because it's free, and comes with a better graphics program, better word processor, better desktop environment, etc. to get all that with windows, you need to shell out $600.

I was talking about XP. Market price is 150 bucks, and office is something like 300. throw in the other shit that makes XP on par with most distributions of linux, and you've spent 600.

I can send you a DVD and crack for free. Plus, you can crack windowblinds, and Greg Martin has good backgrounds. I also have a program that tweaks the shit out of windoes to make it fast and smooth. I paid shit save the added in cost when I bought the lappy winders came with.

What made you go with SUSE over Redhat?
Also, what type of horsepower are you running? LINUX seems to be getting like WINDOZE when it comes to hardware.

are you kidding? If you're running KDE desktop environment, you have to have a GODLY computer. Even the goddamn screensavers lag unless you have a gig of ram and a 256 MB graphics card. The environment alone uses approx. 500 MB of ram just to run.

If you use gnome, the non-pretty desktop environment, you can get away with having a crappy comp.

why the fuck didn't you go for ubuntu 7.04? seriously, that distro is the shit right now. Suse 10.1 seems kinda old to me if i'm not mistaken 10.2 is out. Also i am biased aaginst rpm based distros, and suse in general, so if i were you i would install ubuntu 7.04 right the fuck now. I am running everything multimedia related, cs:source with cedega with no hassle, vmware with windows xp home in it with webcam working with both the mic in the vmware installment of windows, as well as linux, but gaim and kopete do not support webcams for AIM. I'm running with all eye candy fast and awesome on a P4 3.2ghz, 1gb ram, geforce 6600gt

this statement is pure stupidity.
i bet the KDE runs awesome with 256 RAM and a builtin graphics card on a gentoo for instance, or if you don't install every god damn retarded thing in the kde package.
also saying that GNOME is ulgy is pure ignorance, are you fucking shitting me?
is this not enough eye candy

do you have KDE? Trust me, it's a ram-eater. GNOME is a good choice if you have a low end computer. And compared to KDE, gnome IS ugly. Ugly is a very relative term.
