Helloween US Tour

I saw them here in Atlanta last night. The setlist was pretty much the same as the one posted above, but without Sole Survivor and I Can. They started around 10pm and finished at 11:45.

All in all it was a great great show, but Andi Deris' penis meter was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. And if they shortened the left-right singing competition thing, they may have been able to fit in another song. Two fights actually started which surprised me. Both started by drunk assholes though.

Yeah, Andi was rating the crowd's sing-along by how stiff Little Andi got. I gotta admit, though, it was a lot funnier than the usual "I can't hear you!" crap that most frontmen do. But we did get to know more about Andi than we probably want to--he said his favorite side of the crowd is always the right side since he ummm...dresses to the right, if you know what I mean.

Yea, i was right beside those two guys. It wasn't the one guy who was doing anything, it was that drunken bald fool who ran into this guy. The guy got mad and pushed him off, like we all were because of the stupid mosh pit. But when the guy was pushed away, he came back with a right hand to the guys mouth and knocked him down. Then like 5 minutes later, that same guy started another fight with someone else for the same reason.

I really did enjoy it though, it was the best concert i have attended besides Progpower. It was really awesome.

Haha yeah, I can't remember which song it was for, but Andi wanted the crowd to sing along with them. He pointed his finger outward, in front of his waist, and if he did not like the crowd's singing, the finger would point downwards (droop), and if he did like the crowd's singing, the finger would point upwards (erect).

Sorry but I just don't like helping another man get erect lol
I sang along til he did that, but got back to singing again, but making sure I was not looking at him and his stupid meter lol

I actually saw a different guy throw a punch! It was an older guy in a cap and brown jacket. They were getting rowdy and pushing the people up front, and one of the guys up front got tired of it, and started pushing backwards. The guy with the cap got pissed and punched him! The guy that got punched was a little guy too! It was bullshit!

Did you see when the bald guy got thrown out (more like walked away), and the old man man trying to stop the bouncers? What the hell was up with that! Let them throw him out! They should have thrown out that old guy too!

Yea, the bald guy you are talking about started 2 fights. I swear that guy in the hat and brown jacket was mentally retarded, he kept screaming like he was in some institution somewhere. It was great. Did you see the older guy in the black leather jacket that kept getting in people's faces to get off of him? I was there with his daughter and he was pissed. People kept knocking over his daughter and bumping into me, so during like the 4th song, he turned around, because at this point he was pissed. He then told everyone in the mosh pit to come at him all at the same time. It was awesome, because everyone looked at him like he was crazy and no one touched him.

I have been to countless death metal and grindcore shows, as Dan can verify, and the two shows that have felt the most tense, crowd-wise, with actual fighting and/or near-fighting as opposed to mere moshing (with the exception of the two huge skinheads that show up occasionally to some Masquerade shows and usually end up throwing punches just at each other, as best i can tell) have been this Helloween show and the DT/Queensryche/Fates Warning show at the Tabernacle. go figure.

Damn, that's funny, haha. I wasn't expecting this show to be rough at all, i mean it's helloween for christ's sake. But oh well, i made it though it alive and saw the best show i have ever seen besides progpower, so i am very happy with going. What was disapointing though, was the amount of people there, there were hardly no one there compared to the other shows i have gone to there.

About how many people have showed up to the gigs? Cos I'm secretly hoping in Dallas therell be maybe fifty people just so it wont be super packed and that itll be so intimate and personal I can shout out requests, haha.

You wanna know about sad turnouts? Man when Angra did a brief run after Prog Power there were shows with less than twenty people, now thats damn sad.

I know what you mean Daybreaker...my buddy (Rakosh) said maybe only 300 people at the Atlanta show (we'll see if the rest of you concur).

I'm kind of interested to see what crowd Helloween draws on a Friday in San Antonio at an established metal club...well...for what passes as metal in SA these days...

I'm sure there will be plenty of the metal retards there that think Keeper Pt. 2 was their last album...but at least they pay to see the show...("Dude, I used to be a big fan of these guys...what happened to them?"). Also, there will probably be a fair amount of the regulars from that club there, although the $25 cover may scare a lot of non-fans off...who knows?

Last year, an Anthrax show that I thought would be huge only attracted about 300 people. It was in a small, open-air pavilion thought could easily hold 1,000-1,200 people...just sad...and played a big part in enforcing Anthrax's opinion of the North American (and specifically Texas') metal scene.

As much as I'd like to see a "private" show...I just hope we don't leave the same impression on Helloween.

Someone at the Atlanta show told me there were about 400 tickets sold for the show. I don't know where he got the info, but I guess that was about right. But I'm terrible at guessing the correct number of people just by looking at them.

I agree with the penis meter and left/right comments, but it was still a bitchin show.. Nice to see the boys in my home town.. I thought Sascha was a great addition to the team, and his interaction with Michael and especially Markus was great.. SF crowd was pretty fiesty .. a few fights and other drunken tomfoolery. Markus was a ham as always, and made the show especially funny. It was such a time warp to the last tour that they were here. They were far better than I expected.. Bring them to progpower and tell Andi to not act like Secret Sphere, and we have a hell of a show..

I saw Helloween here in New Jersey the opening night of this tour. They had some really decent opening bands. Most local shows I attend are full of generic death metal bands. These bands were actually Prog/Power like. Operatika - fronted by a female and had a female keyboard player. They were okay, their guitarist did some really kick ass stuff. Next up was Arctic Flame who kicked alot of ass. They played a blend of prog and power and just some kick ass straight foward metal. Their sound at times reminded me of early Fates Warning. Next was Gothic Knights who were the ones I least enjoyed. They are just another power metal band and their sound didnt do much for me.
Helloween was up next and they kicked alot of ass. It was the same setlist I saw in NYC last october minus I Can. It was still great though. The opening to "Starlight" really gets me going. The setlist looked like this....

Starlight
Murderer
Keeper Of The Seven Keys
Future World
Eagle Fly Free
Hey Lord
Forever and One (Neverland)
Open Your Life
Dr Stein
If I Could Fly
Sole Survivor
Back Against The Wall
Where The Rain Grows
Power
Sun 4 The World
How Many Tears

I wasn't disappointed they did the same setlist as last time except for "I Can" (which I would have liked to hear again) but I was hoping they would have changed it just a little. Mostly because Weikath did an interview with Royal Carnage a few months ago saying he would like to add "Halloween" and "Metal Invaders" to future setlists. "Halloween" is my all time favorite Helloween song. They were still awesome to see and im happy I saw them twice now.

Also I heard the reason they werent doing "Just A Little Sign" is because last year when they first started their South American tour before they came to America in the fall they were playing it and ran into some difficulties with playing it live so they cut it from the set.

Oh, that's perfectly understandable...write a song you can only do in the studio. Good job guys....:err: (just kidding by the way..I know, many bands do that!!)

Nevertheless, had a GREAT time at the Atlanta show!!!!

yeah, when _Danzig IV_ came out, and I saw them on tour (really glad i did too, so i at least saw the "classic" Danzig lineup once before it disintegrated), I remember they couldn't play their radio hit off of "IV" ("Can't Speak") because the entire guitar track to the song is mixed into it backwards. I don't know whether they were expecting that one to be the hit...
