HELLRAISER, 8 STRING.

Glenn tipton when he designed his hammer, put that stupid long wing (it looks like shit) to compensate the weight.

I hate the look of this guitar, just an 80's mind could have a thought about that shit.

LOL... is that a picture of Jennifer Batten? Wow... I totally forgot about her! Quick, run!! Flight of the Bumblebees! Ahhhhhhh!!! That, or it's some feminine looking dude. Scorpions maybe? :Spin:

Hahahahahaha, I've always fucking loved that guitar Mauri, it's so cheesy  And man has he recorded some great solos with it!

Definitely man! He's one of the UK's technically best guitar players IMO.

I hope that whole sentence is sarcasm, seeing how both Mao and Marcus' post had "he" in it.

Actually no sarcasm was there at all. Just because he was talking about a guitar that was designed by someone, doesn't necessarily mean he put a picture of the person that designed it playing it. Whoever is playing that guitar seriously looks like Jennifer Batten. Are you cranky today? Looking for faults in everyone's posts are we? :goggly: You're silly.

Umm...dude...that IS Glenn Tipton. You know...of Judas Priest...and a godly guitarist.

Seriously, Glenn Tipton is my fucking dawg, he's written such incredible solos! (his crowning achievement IMO being the first solo in "Some Heads are Gonna Roll," the second by the adequate but far inferior IMO KK Downing)

Woo triple quote here I come! Look at me ma!

I understand that, and trust me, if I was looking for faults in everyone's posts I'd be here all day.

+1

My favourite Tipton solos are Painkiller, A Touch of Evil and Beyond The Realms Of Death, but both Tipton and Downing's leads in All Guns Blazing just kick serious fucking ass, hands down my favourite lead section at least for Priest, probably of any band come to think about it.

BAH!!!! K.K. Rules on "The Sinner!" :notworthy:notworthy:notworthy

Personally, my favourite Tipton solos are for "Beyond the Realms of Death" "Dreamer Deceiver" and "Painkiller" in that order.

Oh, and for non-worthy Priest critics, like kaomao here's the scoop on the weird Tipton guitar. He designed the shape with the long wing so the guitar balances effortlessly. He also designed it so he can put the wing between his knees and get the guitar in the proper position for stretch playing..... on such solos as "Painkiller." Makes perfect sense, actually.

7 string is already weird, but I got used to. 8 strings I will NOT get used to. Fuck it..in 3 years we have some 9 string guitars?! I prefer my sitar with build in EMG81...jokin´.

You talk about it as if 8 strings is a new thing:lol:
9 years have been around for a while now dude, 8 strings are not news.

Pretty soon there will be no need for bass players. Just get 2 guitarists with 8 strings. My god. The world is ending.

I really cannot tell if you're kidding or not. I seriously hope you don't think an 8 string guitar is a substitute for bass guitars.
As long as the scale length is within the realms of a guitar, IT'S A GUITAR.
A 27 inch scale guitar tuned one octave below E standard still sounds like a guitar and absolutely nothing like a bass.
The overtones and string gauges make sure it still sounds like a guitar.

I have to say that wasn't the best live performance of Painkiller I've seen, and the cameraman panned away while Glenn was doing the stretches. And it seems to be getting harder for Rob to hit the high notes now, but at least his awesome vibrato is still intact!

Damn, just watched some live vids and I never realized that Tipton did all the leads on All Guns Blazing!

1:13 onwards........if anyone here can nail those leads, then I'll call you god from now on.

I guess you didn't read my message carefully..... I actually said the very same thing as you about the shape.
Of course I think the shape sucks period.

I've never been a big fan of Judas Priest; that's why I had no idea who Glenn Tipton was. And, he (?) looks like a chick in that picture. :p

Soon basses will put out notes comparable to contrabassoons, kick drums will be made of airplane turbine shells and guitars will be tuned to drop f#-23^3.

I'm gonna stick with dropped B!
