And after listening it honestly sounds like any other demo recording from 8-9 years ago. I don't see what the problem is really.
Not to take anyone's side, so please don't view this like that. But...I love how when a band doesn't understand production or that practicing really makes a difference, or tuning the drums, making sure to get the guitar(s) and bass setup, etc. etc. etc. all before going in to record, and when the end product isn't all that great they blame the engineer. It takes two to tango, as they say. An engineer can only do so much to make the best of what he/she is given. And also given the fact that it was 8-9 years ago, I know there were not nearly as many tools available back then as there are today. I wasn't there during that project, so I won't make a judgement on either parties involved, but really I mean 8 or 9 years ago...just re-record it and don't come on here bashing some dude. For all we know his side of the story is completely true...it can go either way. If we're going by his side, you guys came in with SS amps, untuned drums and not nearly up to par on giving a tight performance, and if that is true then what exactly did you expect to come out of it? If his side is truthful, then I feel bad for him because I have been in those situations as well and it sucks. If your side, doc, is true, then I have no sympathy anyway because you should have checked out some of his other work before committing to getting your material recorded with him.
