WINTERSUN

Epic, extreme, melodic and fucking awesome metal. Both growling and clean vocals in the same package.

Alright check out two kickass Swedish bands in particular that have very similar styles: Platitude and Seven Tears. :)

Suspyre
Empyrios
Cosmosquad
Madsword
Thought Chamber
Andromeda

Great bands doing something different...

Pain Of Salvation
Opeth
Nevermore

Pagan's Mind (especially newest album "God's Equation")
Sun Caged
After Forever
Evergrey (avoid "Monday Morning Apocalypse")
Into Eternity
Zero Hour
Shadow Gallery
Savatage

That is about all I can think of right now off the top of my head that has not been named alreay....good luck!

Ok, I forgot about a band that probably sounds more like bands such as Threshold and Circus Maximus than the previous ones I listed, Cloudscape. I wouldn't call them top class; however, I do find their debut self titled album quite decent with plenty of high points yet a few lows. Their second album, which came out a while ago, did not do much of anything for me though.

Fear not, there are hundreds and hundreds of bands that sound exactly like what you already listen to. They sound exactly like each other too. And they're all progressive!

Kamelot, Kiuas, Nightwish, Opeth, Redemption, Spheric Universe Experience, Spiral Architect, Time Requiem...

I'm checking out Vanden Plas, Seventh Wonder, and Biomechanical now.

Black Label Society.

...what? No?

But Ken, they ALL play in DIFFERENT non-4/4 time signatures! So they are CLEARLY all unique! :puke:

Seriously: how about Fates Warning?

I just found it to be incredibly mediocre and uninspired, even for power metal. I don't remember a single song from it. Not like it was painful to listen to, but definitely nothing i feel any need to return to.

to me, songs like "the shadow hunter" and "winds of destination" are great definitions for interesting prog power.

i agree that AC wasn't the most interesting album, but it's still pretty mindblowing talent. especially songs, like salvation:suicide, and the course of nature.

anyway, i liked rebirth better than AC. i just figured AC fit better with estMaj's favorite bands.

Biomechanical? I listened to a few songs, I found nothing interesting. I thought the riffs were pretty boring and the solos were quite uninspired and sloppy. Could some one guide me to good songs please? I hope this aint really metal's future...
