Help needed with Mgla

Seriously, name one band that you discovered via a recommendation of mine that you regularly listen to, or that excited you to the point where the band could be regularly listened to in the future.
Hard to say. Who recommended what, and when they recommended it, in relationship to if and when I got into it, is hard to trace back. Honestly, I'm not sure who recommended any of the following RC bands (these are the last 10 RC recos I've purchased)...

Amesoeurs
Darkestrah
Destroyer 666
Drudkh
Gwynbleidd
Mgla
October Falls
Raventale
Secrets of the Moon
Wolves in the Throne Room

Amesoeurs - Not Me

Darkestrah - I reco'd it awhile back in June along with others here (including upping songs from "Embrace of Memory" - see the link below). (I even sent Ali an urgent text message to drop what he was doing and listen to it back in June).

I haven't seen you mention anything about them until Ali started spotlighting them recently and you also weren't aware they had any releases other than Epos.

Destroyer 666 - Not Me

Drudkh - Not Me

Gwynbleidd - Me at first, but you dismissed them until the show where Aurel, Ali and other RC'ers spooged over them

Mgla - you reco'd them to me

October Falls - not me

Raventale - not me

Secrets of the Moon - you reco'd them to me

Wolves in the Throne Room - you reco'd them to me

Darkestrah - I reco'd it awhile back in July...
OK. For starters, everyone knows you don't reco Black Metal until mid-September... at the earliest. It's the Metal equivalent of not wearing white after labor day.

Actually, it was Tranquillian's February thread that turned me on to them.

Overall, it looks like you have some work to do. You need to spend more time listening to what I like and less time listening to what you like. This way, when you hear something new, you'll know right away if we'll (and I really mean "if I'll") like it. :loco:

I believe Darkestrah was my reco from the beginning, even though I might have picked them up from Erik from the beginning. Someone else will now do a search and prove me wrong...

Edit: It was actually HenrikMain's reco from early 2005.

Your post obviously isn't meant to be taken seriously, but nevertheless, you obviously reco bands as you discover them.

I was talking about Darkestrah - the thread you're referring to is about Mgla.

Again, I know this portion wasn't meant to be taken seriously (or at the very least, the underlying message was more serious than the phrasing). That said - when I don't think a band will appeal to you, I usually let you know. At the same time, I can't tell you how many times I've been surprised over the past few years regarding things I've reco'd thinking you'd dig them to find out you didn't (close to 100%). And if they were things you eventually did come around to, I had nothing to do with it.

Sometimes it just feels like I have little to no credibility[/Rodney Dangerfield]. Obviously we can't go back in time, but I would love to know how the Nae'blis would've been received if others had reco'd it.

No prob - I wasn't referring to the initial reco (I wouldn't have taken credit for that either), only that I tried to urge peers to check them out earlier this year.

All joking aside, there's some truth to that.

I've seen many recos for pagan and BM earlier this year which I've purposely deferred to the autumn/winter nights.

hey dudes,
nice to see Gwynbleidd still gets thrown around in this forum (this has to be like the only place where it does). hopefully this damn album we're working on finally gets to see the light of day one of these days.

i'm fucking drunk about to dose off, in the mean time, cheers from poland. :kickass:

p.s. don't be fooled by my wonderfull spelling skillz, i type well when drunk.

Crushing The Holy Trinity is pretty meh, and reminds me waay to much of Darkthrone and Mayhem, but from then on this band improves dramatically. I'm very excited to hear their full length!
