ok I was on Limewire and downloaded what I THOUGHT was the new Timless Winter vid but when it downloaded it ended up being corrupt porn file, i try to delete it but the name is too long, it wont let me change the name, ive tried virus ive tried a spyscanner ive tried safe mode, ive tried backup restore but nothing fuckin works...anyone know what to do?

Oh, sure, you thought it was a Timeless Winter vid. Uh, huh -- that's what they all say! :saint:

Honestly, I have to ask what system you're running, as Windows is keen to let me delete whatever I'm "sure" about deleting, regardless of how long the name is, or how corrupt the file, if not in regular mode then surely in safe mode. Also, moronic question of the week -- did you reboot? Sometimes stuff like that just gets "stuck" to other things. No, don't bother asking me to explain that better, I'm a bad geek and I'd only get it wrong, but I can see it happening on my own computer sometimes. Also, I'm with Will on the whole Norton bandwagon.

Download a program called KillBox (Google it) and then delete your file with it. KillBox lets you delete anything, and if it can't be deleted on the spot, it'll be deleted on reboot.

Oh, and serves you right for being too cheap to buy your CDs.

yeah it does....

anyway i downloaded it found the file and when i click ok nothing show up on the path box....I tried doing it manually but it says the file doesnt exsist...

this is fucked up...

and STOP USING LIMEWIRE. Not only because it's lame, but because my friend actually got one of those fabled letters from the riaa. She was sued and took a plea bargain out of it. But if fought, they will sue 5,000 dollars per song!

Oh dear. Well, you could always download TaskInfo to force the file to become visible, but that's a complex thing. You've tried typing in the full path in Killbox' path box, right?

Format C: might be the only solution.

fix your registry before formating. you might just be able to fix it by getting it out of the temp folder. have you tried renaming the file to something smaller? sometimes that will do the trick too.

So was your friend like a heavy downloader with tonnes of files stored in her share folder? I don't use it very often myself, but when I do I drag the files straight out of the share folder & leave it empty whenever possible. Also was she using the basic or premium version?

No. She was part of a college collective at Ohio Northern University. The highest rate in piracy in any college in the U.S. She had 1300 songs and she settled pleading guilty and paying 2000 dollars rather than 5000 per song and fighting it.

It pretty much broke her, because college kids have no money. She hasn't downloaded anything since.

holy fuck im smart! I put all my icons (besides the porn one) in a file off the desktop then i opened up command prompt and windows task manager and ended the explorer.exe in windows task manager then i command prompt typed "DEL Desktop" and it deleted the desktop file and that stupid fuckin file with it, then i went back into windows task manager went to run new process typed in explorer and the desktop came back empty, i took everything from that file put it back on the desktop, restarted just to make sure and BOOM! fuckin gone.

thanks deathstrike for reccomending me to go to google and type that in, heres a cookie.

No i didn't see the last post (obviously)

Hijack This is a program to find registries, very helpful tool to fix problems.

Yeah, i mentioned that earlier in one of my posts. Hijack this is pretty much a godsend. Glad you got your pc fixed! I suggest running a FULL pc scan (virus, malware, adware and spyware) just to make sure you got the problem fixed, to make sure your registry is fixed, and to make sure no ghost files were left behind!
