but how do you guys get those pics to come up beside your name? I've seen Godzilla,Rosie the Riveter, James Hetfeild... huh???

Hey Vin Dog, not stupid, just new... 
At the top of the page (or any Ultimate Metal page, I think) click on Profile...on that page, click on Edit Profile. There is a setting called User Avatar...you need to put the web address of the image you want to use in that box. That means of course the image has to be accessible via the internet...for example:
http://www.vindog.com/mypicture.gif
or wherever you have a picture stored online. Yahoo profiles is a good place to store pictures, although I have had some trouble linking to a picture there for use as an Avatar here on UM.
