hey JayKeely

Thanks BWD. By the way, get anything by Empyrium - they are all excellent works of art, and by far my favorite artist on Prophecy.

I really wish I had more time to write reviews. I'd like to 'complete' the Empyrium Weiland review by adding reviews for:

Agalloch - Of Stone, Wind & Pillor
Ulver - Kveldssanger
Tenhi - Vare

Oh and if anyone else on the team want to write these, go right ahead. I'm sure NAD (Ulver freak) and Erik might want a look in (having shown an interest in Kuaun), and I know Chief B already drafted something for Agalloch....

Evergrey -- Recreation Day

Middle of the road prog music.

Gamma Ray -- Heading For Tomorrow (reissue)
Gamma Ray -- Sigh No More (reissue)
Gamma Ray -- Insanity and Genius (reissue)

What are the reissues like - does Kai Hansen sing on these?

Gamma Ray -- Land of the Free (reissue)
Gamma Ray -- Somewhere Out In Space (reissue)
Gamma Ray -- Powerplant (reissue)

The Gamma Ray trilogy that blurred speed metal with power metal. Rebellion in Dreamland is an anthem like no other.

Gamma Ray -- No World Order!

Shame they went the Painkiller route, but still a very good album. Featuring two standout songs, "Damn the Machine" which sounds so much like Megadeth I want to shoot heroin into my balls, and "Lake of Tears" which is the BEST GAMMA RAY SONG EVER.

Solefald -- In Harmonia Universali

I only have Linear Scaffold. Good stuff if you're in a warped mood.

Agalloch -- The Mantle
Darkthrone -- Under a Funeral Moon
Limbionic Art -- Moon In the Scorpio
Anathema -- Eternity
Ulver -- Bergtatt
Ulver -- Kveldsjanger
Empyrium -- A Wintersunset
Empyrium -- Weiland

Congratulations. That is a phenomenal catch.

In the Woods -- Three By Seven on a Pilgrimage

You better get your bong and weed ready for this shit.

Borknagar -- s/t

Hope you have Empiricism. I can't get over how good Vintersorg sounds on that one.

as of right now, ULVER is the best band in the world. ever.

:D

i agree with that on the evergrey, i have ISoT and after all the talk about this one, i was expecting SO much more. i love the PM though.

no, still rob half. . . i mean, ralf scheepers. all 6 of them are re-packaged, remastered, and all have 3-4 bonus tracks. worthwhile buys!

i agree! LotF is one of the best metal albums to grace my ears. . . i still remeber when i first heard it. power metal doesn't get much better.

I only have Linear Scaffold. Good stuff if you're in a warped mood.

you have to hear the new one! sound so much like arcturus at times it's scary, then sometimes like something much different. i LOVE this cd!

dammit, we smoked the rest of my weed last night. . . :D

dammit, no. . . i love vintersorg and borknagar. . . hmmm. . . sounds like a good formula!

Yeah, RD was the one review on our site that I disagreed with. Tom Englund needs to learn how to sing in multiple scales and keys - it's too 'same same' on each song.

The best Evergrey was Solitude Dominance Tragedy IMO (for Nosferatu alone!). ISotT was good for all the X Files fans. And then just before Recreation Day, somebody told me that they thought Tom Englund sounded like Bob Seger and ever since then, I've had difficulty not imagining that when I hear him....kind of ruined Evergrey for me.

I'll still see them supporting Arch Enemy though. :)

yeah, there is no doubt that he is an excellent vocalist, but for some reason he does nothing for me. . . *shrugs*

btw, i've listened to a few of my cds [discounting the evergrey, gamma rays and PM]. . .
ulver - bergtatt
SA - downfall
Nevermore
Darkthrone - Under. . .
the first Empyrium

DAMN!!! these albums are MONSTROUS!!! shit, if the rest of my buys even come close to these, I will be one happy mutha!!!

Wait 'till dusk, turn down the lights, and put on Weiland...try not to get too depressed on chapter 2 (track 7) when those strings come in.

All of these are absolutely fantastic CD's. If you like this stuff, and if you don't already have them, you should get all the other CD's by Agalloch, Empyrium and In The Woods. They're my 3 favourite bands ever, and every single album by all of them is a must.

And whatever you do, don't listen to it, or the Agalloch, while driving... :)

I was falling asleep at the wheel one night listening to Omnio by In the Woods...never again.

The following day, I was listening to Into Eternity and I got a fucking speeding ticket.

four points:

1) i've already listened to empyrium while driving, pretty fucking serene. . .

2) i got a speeding ticket while listening to the haunted 1 1/2 years ago

3) AMOK is sentenced's best album. i've always had these songs on my computer and on STORY. . . but for some reason i never really noticed most of them before. anyway, 9.8/10

4) I own ye all! :err: :zombie: :err:

I still want to pick up that first Agalloch CD, even if the Mantle is something I could never listen to on a daily basis, and Tenhi is a group I've been needing to check out for quite some time.

And yes, Ulver is quite possibly the greatest band in the world. Right behind Tool, Danzig, Hypocrisy, and King Crimson that is. :D

That's a helluva sweet haul BWD, and I'm now trying to figure out how you've started buying records at a markgugsian-like rate.

I'm also trying to figure out how you guys don't like Evergrey's newest!? It's brilliant you sods!
