As the 22 year old angel-in-tight-clothes that works for me would say, "meh".

I forgot to mention...some of you might dig this stuff...Velnias from the Chicago area. Good friends of mine just signed to God is Myth, also a good friend of mine...I'm a name-dropping bitch tonigght. They like to rock. God is Myth rules and these fellas are good lads. Reminds me a little of Opeth mixed with not gay.

Silencer fucking rules. I just had an introspective look at mortality. It's quite sad knowing that all these beautiful musical experiences will one day cease to be.

:continues to drink drink drink:

When they started to play this stuff on the boat I was already dripping alcohol and fever by the ears and when the intro kicked I thought "woot, funeral doom"

Otherwise strange song, but I'll wait to see how it fits in the bulk of the album.

I keep buying Opeth albums, hoping for something good... though now, I'm just hoping this one isn't a waste of my 15 bucks.

I thought Opeth's fanbase had INCREASED? This looks like it was filmed in an empty elementary school gym.

Yeah, not terrible. I had half a mind to catch Nadja and Teith in a couple weeks, and it looks like these guys were added to that show, so maybe that'll push me over the edge.

Yeah, so Velnias was alright. Seems like the band is mostly the guitar player. The bass player and drummer were pretty inconsequential. But yeah, the guitar player has obviously heard Opeth before, but it's good because he's heard the old records too, so he even has the creaky guitar tone down, and the same young-Akerfeldt roar.

Nadja was pretty awesome when my eyes were closed, but what's really the point of seeing a "live" band if they sound just as good (or better) with your eyes closed? With my eyes open, I saw a short mousy dude with a guitar and a backside of a woman with a bass, standing on either side of a table full of pedals and knobs. Woo.

MRDR was actually favorite of the whole bunch. Overall, a well-constructed evening of four bands. Velnias was the only one that didn't have an unhealthy fascination with extreme-sound-processing through all manner of garage-sale electronics, but they made up for it with the metal.
