Higher string tension = tighter playing.

A really good rhythm player will rule on whatever he plays...It is a matter of what is most comfortable and what sounds best. For myself, I can sacrifice comfort to be sonically better.

The question is whats the right amount of string tension?

Whatever is comfortable for the guitarists. In Flames works in the ame tuning as Nevermore, but Jesper uses a Gibson 6-string at 24.75" scale and Jeff uses a Schecter 7-string at 26.5" scale.

Despite the difference in scale Jeff (used) to use a similar gauge as Jesper simply because he dug it. But, if you were to play their individual guitars, there would be a huge difference in string tension.

It's up to the player as to what is ideal, because it's about comfort and how you play.

What's the superior flavor? Chocolate, or Strawberry?

Dunlop Heavy core for me. thin and tight. thin for evil and tight for........tight! look em up if you havent.

I agree with you, but what I'm saying is that even though when I tune to standard it dosen't feel as nice too me, I think it sounds better. Well not better, the timbre is about the same, the performance sounds tighter. I think it's probably that the strings don't goes as sharp when you hit them.
