So, I've been trying to get a black metal sound from a very non- black metal setup. Fender DeVille 60 watt tube with a Fender Jaguar, I' am also running a DS-2 as well as a Line 6 verbzilla for a little extra reverb. The tone I' am getting is great, it's just the distortion, something is missing in it.

I have the drive cranked up and the DS-2 is not all the way due to feedback, but it's up there. I' am almost there with the distortion, it just sounds like I' am missing a little bit more crunchy distortion that gives BM songs that fluid yet chaotic sound in their riffs. Any suggestions?

It's likely the set-up since the majority of what you just listed isn't really for black metal so my suggestion would be to get a different rig haha (j/k). Easy on the reverb especially for rhythm work ... It can cloud things up pretty quick. If you posted clips, it could probably help us a bit help you more
