I do understand the money part, I know it's tough - but damn, if there ever was an exception to the rule of not throwing caution to the wind, this is it! Hell, I'm recently unemployed and I have no intention on canceling my plans.

Guys, stop the presses! Sale airfares from Philly and Newark to Minneapolis Saint Paul for $252 roundtrip on Nortwest Airlines. Flights are direct, I'm booking mine right now.

JK, definitely go for it man, ESPECIALLY if you can fly from Newark in January. It's a promotional sale fare on www.nwa.com and the flights are direct from Newark to Minneapolis/St. Paul. Who knows how long the sale fares will last so I jumped on it today.

I also booked a room at the official hotel of the festival (the Courtyard Mariott in Roseville, MN, about 3-4 miles from the venue). Got two queen beds and can probably get a cot if needed as well.

EDIT - I also purchased the optional insurance for my plane ticket. It was only $12 extra!! If you need to cancel at anytime, you can get a full refund and only be out the $12. I jumped on that one too.

It's the second closest, and the one where all the bands will be staying at apparently. Yep, $79/night was the price I got when I called.

The first closest is a place called the Livinn Suites and it's about 1.5 miles away from the venue. I checked it out and for a room that can hold at least 3 people the rate was like $114 a night. Plus, I rented a car from the airport, so I said the hell with it and booked my room at the official festival hotel.

If you're worried, go on PayPal and buy a ticket; they're $25. You can either sell it or eat it, if you decide not to go. That's what I'm thinking about doing.
