I literally just got back from my big road trip to California and holy crap was it worth the 30+ hours of driving. The Hollywood show was spectacular!!! 5 songs off of LFDGD, Deadhouse and Murder?!?!?! I also have to mention that Insomnium did very well, and Swallow the Sun was excellent. It's too bad I wasn't able to chat with any of you guys from the forum, but I guess nobody cared enough to say hi. Oh well, there's always next time. Anyhow I need to get to bed, this drive took a lot out of me. And I hope the Corona show was just as good for those of you who were fortunate to go to both.

Lot of sound problems tonight. Tons of feedback and the guitars mostly sounded muffled. Katatonia was still great though despite the problems. Brickhouse is a newer venue I assume considering I've never been there. Set as was posted above, but not in that order. Scar Symmetry sucked badly and I couldn't wait for them to finish.

I could have done with a little less scar symmetry and darktranqinsomnium(or whatever the hell their name is). Although kevin made it worth while with his mocking of the scar symmetry singer. The sound problem had to do with a bad cable. I think I lost hearing in my right ear for good this time. : ( shoulda brought some ear plugs.

That's really what challenges us right now, to create … I wouldn't say technical, but a little bit progressive musicianship in the songs, yet still keep it very dark. I don't hear a lot of bands do exactly that mix right now, so I think it's a good path for Katatonia to walk further on."

This sounds like a good "hint" about the upcoming Katatonia album. I like reading this =)

The San Antonio show last night was brilliant; crystal clear sound, excellent performances from all the bands; turn out was a bit of a dissapointment though; only about 40-50 people, which I 'spose is too be expected on a Monday night. But Katatonia was in fine form, gifting us with a performance even more passionate and spirited then when my band opened for them last year. Here's what I can remember of the setlist:

Adding to my enjoyment of this phenomenal set were the two cute Mexican girls directly in front of me singing every song along with my friend and I. I should also note that Insomnium and Swallow were both fucking incredible. Scar Symmetry was good but not really my thing and the clean vocals were a bit off-key at times.
