How do you plan to become/remain profitable in the age of Piracy?

I don't want to derail the original purpose of this thread, but...

Totally agree!

I'm seriously thinking about getting into porn.....

Easy money for dudes and you get to fuck halfway decent chicks on a regular basis....

I was under the impression that the guys basically get fuck-all (hehe) from straight porn, while the girls do get some decent income. I've also read that many of the male porn actors also do some gay stuff simply because they get a helluva lot more money from it than regular porn.

Forget about it. I know people who actually are in the porn biz for quite some time. Even if it might look attractive and the porn formula will always make some $$$ it is still a business and losta hard work needed to make some profit.

UNLESS you have some cash to start you won't make it very far.
I'm not assuming, mind you, I'm telling you how it is :)

I'm not saying it is impossible but trust me, it isn't anything easier there.

2 success rules that come into mind with any business:

1. aggressive marketing to the max with lotsa $$$ and planning involved. Stamina!

and/or

2. unique niche market with decent longlasting client/membersupport and some $$$ invested in the right spots. Quality!

Grammar and spelling are, IMO, much different than maths or sciences in their long-term use, mainly because it's the one subject that gets used by literally every person, every single day. I don't care if a grown man knows multi-variable calculus, but if he doesn't have a very good command of the English language, I think a bit differently of him.

I'm not saying that one tiny mistake automatically makes you an incompetent bafoon, just responding to your "how much will you remember in 10 years" comment.

I'm a grammar nazi - oh well. I also call people out when they say things like "irregardless" or "PIN number." I don't have a personal vendetta against anyone, I just have seen the mistakes done often enough in the recent past to make me want to say something about it.

jeff... you're still in school... easy to remember all that shit when you're still in English class every weekday.... lol. i was an Honor Graduate, and member of the NHS, with 4, count 'em... 4 different English related clasess my senior year. CP English, English Lit., Creative Writing, and Greek/Latin (a class that dissected how Greek and Latin prefixes, roots, and suffixes make up a great deal of English words and how by their study one can derive the meaning of words one has never even heard before)... i aced them all.... but 15-20 years down the line, if one pursues a path in life that does not keep him on his toes regarding grammar and spelling, these mistakes can easily, and excusably, happen.

never mind the fact that fast typing can lead to the use of say, "there" when one means "their", and other homonym related typos (like effect/affect) that just happen despite the fact that the writer knows perfectly well which is the correct one to use... and they aren't caught by spell-checkers because it's a correct spelling, just of the wrong word. i usually only catch these mistakes if i read back what i typed before i post it... .which i don't always do.... ya know.. busy 'n stuff.

let's check back with you in 10 years and see how much [insert subject you wont use in your chosen profession here] you remember by then, ;)

so essentially... write music for pornos? thats the only way to stay economically viable going forward? maybe i should dust off the old saxophone

The spit AND image. "The spit" is a perfect likeness of someone/something. I'm not sure what a "spitting image" would be, unless it's a portrait of someone spitting.

i heard from someone that Porn industry is a Mafia as a lot if things, you just Can´t enter the biz, unless they let you.

but if he doesn't have a very good command of the English language, I think a bit differently of him.

Can you be a bit more detailed about "I think a bit differently of him?"

I hear some undertone of an innuendo there. actually I appreciate it when someone corrects my grammar in a friendly way, everybody makes mistakes and ultimately I wanna improve my language skills whatever language I'm currently (ab)using :D

I'm not sure if I feel quite comfy if people start to think different because of my human inability to speak everything perfect. if we're talking about extremes here, like people who can't speak or write one sentence without doing a bunch of mistakes, then we would probably have a serious communication problem which could lead to a whole lot of misunderstandings...

Did you mean that or something else?

Well Bernhard, since your German and (I assume) English isn't your first language, I don't think he was referring to you ;)
