Yes well early modern English is obviously the basis of our current English. Shakespere is written in early modern English for example.
Words were written how they sounded and spelling was not codified until the invention of the dictionary.
You must have seen signs with "Ye Olde" in them?

Evile and Goode where common spellings. Just have a google for early modern English.
