please can you post some samples or links where i can hear how this cabinets sound in the heavy music?

i heard someone who said these cabinets are producing a nice metal tone!

thanks in advance!

All the clips I've heard of them have sounded extremely dark, too much so for my tastes. Also, they don't include casters :Smug: I vote Mesa! (or Blackstar if you're in Europe)

Yeah I must say...I've heard nothing but good things about Orange cabs, but I really disliked the 2x12 I had. I was pretty dumbfounded about it. It had a solid low end, but a really strange midrange. Even with a tubescreamer it wouldnot chug like my other cabs. Strange thing really...maybe the 4x12s are better.

I vote Mesa as well...

Sorry to hijack the thread but are the blackstar cabs the same size as the Mesa Std?

From what I understand the Blackstar cabs are like a lower priced Mesa cab, similar construction and whatnot.

The lower the ohms, the meatier the bass is and hits a little harder - from my days installing sub systems in cars. May be different in guitar cabs but I highly doubt that. I have always used 8ohm whenever possible, and I hate Marshall cabs which are almost all 16ohm from the factory. You can always get 8ohm speakers or wire the existing ones into 8 depending on what is in there and whatnot.

Hmm, that's interesting Mike - I dunno, I think maybe it's different with car/pro audio since you can't select the output impedance of the power amp going to the subs (unlike with a t00b amp), but still...

However, there's no way to wire four 16 ohm speakers in mono to get the total impedance at 8 ohms, unfortunately (I used this for reference)

Marcus: hah - fair enough...we use to wire up subs to drop their ohmage all the time...

I remember a while ago I was at a band practice and used one of the blackstar cabs....wasn't anywhere near as good sounding as the mesa that day anyway

Damn - scratch that off the list :(
