Algorithmic impulse loaders

Hi all, I've been hearing a bit about new impulse response loaders or something similar that uses 'floating' algorithms instead of static wav files to emulate cabinets/speakers/mics etc.

I think the new Axe-Fx has this system and I was just wondering if anyone was working on plugin versions of this to use with sims in a DAW? I'm not complaining for a second about the loaders I have now, kefir does me very nicely but even still there is a certain edge that is missing.

I know my actual amp sims are fine, I use them with a power amp and a mic'd up speaker when I want that 'real' sound and they do sound great but I'm curious about these new impulse systems.

I could be completely wrong and heard nonsense as I know next to nothing about this type of technology but just to put some curious feelers out there.

Thanks!
