In the CoB gallery I saw one of the members (can't remember who) holding up a gold record. What's the count on record sales for "Are You Dead Yet?" in America? I'm assuming it's over 500,000. I've gotta say that's impressive for a black metal band to do especially in the US.

The album sold 5,000 copies in the US and entered the charts at #195. Way too commercial if you ask me...

are you saying they sold too many records in the US? and blaming them for selling them? i really hope not.

Well to put things into perspective, Dream Theater's newest album Octovarium is the best selling cd in the "hard rock" category with sales at 180,000 in the U.S. alone (source August 05 Burrn! Magazine). Bodom has probably sold under 25,000 for an album like HCDR, and maybe a little more for the other albums because they been out longer....I'm just speculating though so uhhh Ignore this post :Spin:

I love the laughing for the "Black Metal" remark. You know when I first heard of Bodom they were labeled EVERYWHERE as a BM band. And if you actually listen to Something Wild and Hatebreeder, you can see where the label came from. I remember when FTR was first released (In Europe, it took almost 3 years to come to America) people were saying it wasn't "black metal enough." Everyone's a critic. Bodom = BODOM. nuff said. Cheers! :)

btw wings, are you gonna be in atlanta again this year for bodom? i'td be bad ass to see you again bro

The silver/gold/platinum records are different for each country, relative to population. Chances are thats a finnish gold record. The finnish are mad for metal and with it having a reasonably small population it is easier to attain a gold record that it would be in, say, the US where the population is MUCH higher and thus the criteria for getting gold record is also proportionally larger.

hope that helps.
