How much of the sound comes from the amp? how much from the cabinet? 50/50?

PLease someone correct me if I'm wrong, but everyone here seems to favor Mesa OS over... basically anything else?
I'm familiar with the 'Standart' ''not having the Siberian Birch'' big discussion, but really, even better than an ENGL cab?

I've noticed from Ola's vids he has 2x4s. Anyone knows of those are better sounding somehow? or it's just a practical thing (for apartment rec/practice)
