How the fuck are you supposed to play this?

most likely not edited.
they didn't even track to a click. that's straight from lille btw.

DS is a SICK SICK SICK band. probably my fave in german death, definitely my overall fave in brutal death.

can't wait to see them this saturday. i saw them at death feast this year and they blew everything else out of the water. made necrofaschist look like a school band.

This is not thaaaaat crazy hard. Maybe practice playing the 5th string notes just legato triplets.. forget the palm muting just get that pattern flowing.
Then... bar and lighty mute the picked note..... tada!!!

I'm not saying that first riff is crazy hard, even though it is beyond my capabilities.
I just cant get the hammer ons to sound decent when palm muting.

Also, why do people who don't like brutal death metal always feel the need to tell people?
If you have a comment that is constructive/asks questions then fine, but just stating that you don't like it make you sound like an asshole with a superiority complex.

It's the same as some of the guys who actually like brutal death but are always "gneeeeeueuhhhhu death metal rules, everything else sucks". It feels like every style feels like it has something to prove to the others. BS...

i love how every time defeated sanity comes up on this forum the death metal haters come out of the woodwork

It is, and it's fucking retarded

I actually like some brutal death stuff but their sound is too fucking muddy.
How can you talk about "to get it sound perfect on the record" if you can't even hear what the guitar is playing  ;)
The song is ok, and hell yeah it's groovy :headbang: But please, I want less mud on the guitars.

That was a definite complaint for me at first, and one of the reasons (aside from not being a massive brutal dm fan) for me taking so long to get into it.
And although I still wish it was a little bit less muddy, I think it suits the band.
let's be honest as well, it's much better than most in the genre :)

Haha, yeah. It could be much worse indeed.
I like to refer to Aborted when it comes to the "death metal / brutal death has to sound muddy" discussion..
Probably some people are going to say they're not brutal death but anway, their sound is fucking clear and yet "brutal" / massive / whatever. :)

I used to hate production like Defeated Sanity's, then I got some monitors, and since then I can hear all the details, are you all listening on computer speakers or something?
Plus that guitar tone is smooooooooooth, like mudslide rolling down a hill, lovely!!

The latest Wormed is clear and still heavy as fuck
But yeah, that's one thing I love about it now, the smoothness (from a zoom pedal? lol)
It's similar to the Effigy tone, where it's actually really fizzy, but in the mix it sounds really smooth

I'm listening on Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro headphones. I put the smiley behind my sentence for a reason, though :loco:
But I think you're right about the smoothness.. it takes a bit to get used to it after listening to some "polished" metal guitars but it actually fits quite well.

I think they could sound a bit more "produced" but I can appreciate their stuff.
As far as I know they recorded with a Zoom Tri Metal or so into a Marshall head,
not sure which one.
I would use a completly different setup for such music, but as long as it sounds
good to them, no problem and there are enough people who like it.

For all the haters, come on, you don't have to listen to it, here's enough stuff
posted that doesn't sound good to me, but than I just stfu or I try to stay nice
and stop ranting about the music and talk about the production.

2 tracks zoom tri metal into marshall dsl 100, 2 tracks pod pro much lower in the mix.

Completely true, so many people say they love brutal death metal but when a REAL death metal band like defeated sanity are posted, the suckers fuck off and the real death metal fans are left here :D

thanks Fragle, like I said, I wasn't 100% sure, read it 2 years ago or so,
seems like my memory works better than I thought :D

sag mal, kennst du den früheren Obscura Gitarrist Johannes Rennig?
Der hat mir vor kurzem Retaliation empfohlen und ich wusste nicht genau
welcher von den beiden Gitarristen du bist, da er wohl einen von euch kennt.
